By tackling the above issues, this proposal will participate in the global effort of mitigating the effects of global warming and the plummeting biodiversity and habitat available to all living beings. Glasgow Roots aims at restoring these landscapes making them a critical area for the neighbourhood and new landmarks of degrowth.

Moreover, the proposal follows the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which are “a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030”.

By tackling the previously mentioned issues, this proposal will participate in the global effort of mitigating the effects of global warming and the plummeting biodiversity and habitat available to all living beings.

Community spaces

The creation of common spaces for the community to gather and thrive is paramount as it is the first step in creating a sence of place for the new network of neighbourhoods.

Regeneration - Multi habitat

Collaborative survival means patchy landscapes, multiple temporalities, and shifting assemblages of human and non-human. A multi-habitat, multi-species, multi-function world making is at the heart of a truly resilient landscape.

Connection

New ways of being are emergent effects of new encounters (Tsing, 2015), and encounters can happen only if there is a reliable spatial connection. And when a connection is well established it will allow more and more encounters.

Community engagement - Community science

Engage communities in biodiversity conservation and spread scientific knowledge about wildlife. Enhance citizens’ species literacy to make them part of the natural world around them.
