Derelict land presents itself as a severed flowscape for both humans and more than human urban stakeholders. It stands inert and fenced, unable to exchange energy flows with the surrounding areas, or to provide appropriate ecological sevices for wildlife.

The energy brought through migration, hunting and defecation from birds and mammals roaming around the city is lost in a fragmented urbanscape.

Crossing the Threshold - Connect Derelict Land to the Wider Flow

Glasgow Roots aims at defragmenting the city scape and creating corridors and habitat patches within a matrix of dominant landscape types. The chosen cluster of derelict land becomes a network of working landscapes, a cohesive unit of land that is ecologically, socially and economically connected.
